Color Breathing: Red

Red energy is about primal needs, life and survival. It deals with our ability to live on purpose, helps process our grounded-ness in our lives and life situations, gives the energy needed to get the necessary things done and is responsible for the intergration of our roots systems - family, soul groups, life lessons.

When the Base chakra is unbalanced, concentrating on red things and the color red can help us restore the Base chakra and give it an energetic boost. One may wear, hold, channel, breathe or focus on the color to allow it's frequency to be absorbed by the body (and bodies: astral, spiritual, mental, etheric). Eating red fruits or vegetables will also help and more so, when done with intention.

Symptoms of imbalance may include, but are not limited to selfishness, hurried and harriedness, temper flares, nerves, inner turmoil, control issues, domineering atttitudes, anger, hatred, frustration, greed, cruel thoughts and actions, destructiveness, vengence, hostility, sexual disfunctions mental and physical, suicidal tendency and blood lust toward human, animal or plant.

Contraindications: infection, pain or discomfort in the lungs or abdomen. You would then channel the color directly into your Base chakra through visualization, third eye sight, or hand channeling while breathing in white light.

Red Color Breathing Exercise - for balancing the Base chakra

Start by allowing the mind and body to relax. You will want to be in a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed for approximately 20 min. Relaxing or meditative music can be playing. You may use a blanket over the torso so as not to be distracted by a chill as your body slows processes down while it relaxes. Sit upright in a chair or in lotus or seiza on the floor, but do not lie down unless you are quite experienced in meditation. The mind must remain alert for this exercise. You may record yourself reading these words so it is easier to follow.

With eyes closed, sitting upright bring your attention to your breath. Just watching your regular breathing, not trying to change it. Watch your breath as it goes into your lungs and watch it as the breath leaves your body. Feel your body become lighter with each inhale. Exhale peacefulness.
As you watch your breath travel into your lungs, see it become a beautiful ruby red. Maybe it dances as it travels inside you. Maybe it sparkles with life and joy of being. Feel the red breath as it revitalizes your body. Allow it gently to travel on to your Base chakra. See the spinning vortex of your Base chakra as it funnels in towards your body. Watch as the red breath, with each new inhale and exhale, is guided within the Base chakra. Feel the energy shift as the red frequency is assimilated by your bodies. As you continue to breathe and watch and feel the red breath, let gratitude flow into your heart space. Give yourself some time to enjoy this unfolding, breathing and flowing. Now, see your body covered with a crystaline bright white light, as it seals in the feelings of gratitude and the healing of the red breath.
When you feel ready, bring yourself back to your surroundings. Perhaps, moving the toes or fingertips. Open your eyes.

With regular practice of this exercise you will find a greater sense of peace and the ability to handle everyday stresses with more ease and grace.
