I see the base chakra as one conical flow from base of spine, down through perineum and out, but I am able to access it from front or back. Of great interest to me is the way in which the client will allow the work to be deeper while they lie on their tummy; the energetic intimacy is more profound when working with the back chakras.
The color associated with the base chakra (BCh) is red; this is the color frequency in which the BCh vibrates and if we were to make that into a scale note, it would resonate as C.
In sound healing, verbal toning or that done by instrument (chakra chimes, singing bowls) helps bring vibrational balance to the chakras by way of intrainment. In energy healing with color, the same is happening only the healing facilitator is channeling the vibrational match by psychically concentrating on the color, allowing that color in the present moment through the hands or breath.
With Reiki, I will focus on a specific chakra based on the imbalances perceived in the bodymind. For example, some of the imbalances in the BCh deal with: urinary tract, money habits, hoarding, anger, suicidal thoughts, painful menses in women, addiction, sexual issues, etc. Reiki energy will then bring balance to the area physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
A healthy BCh is a clear and vibrant red color. The spin is steady, circular and clockwise. In thought we can support the BCh by cultivating a solid belief in trusting the goodness of life even through difficult times. Yoga or exercise that involves the legs and feet and demands presence in the activity will keep the BCh healthy and grounded. Spiritual support includes appreciation of the beauty of nature, the mothering archetype in ourselves, and the mother figures (female or male)in our lives.
